We have been learning to identify the features of persuasive writing . I found this tricky because this was my first time doing it. Something I learnt was what groups of three was. My next step is to write a persuasive speech.
We have been learning about the structure and order of writing an explanation We had to put the piece of writing in the correct order. i found this tricky because i had never done explanations before. My next step is to write my own explanation.
We have been learning to solve multiplication problems using place value partitioning. I found this easy because i know how to work it out. My next step is to learn how to use a different strategy to work out harder problems.
My refelction We have been learning to compare and contrast different celebrations. My group researched information about Easter. Something I found interesting was you can celebrating by eating Easter Eggs.. Next we worked with another group and used a Venn diagram to compare our celebrations.Things that were the same were there were special foods and they are both celebrated with family. My next step is to put more detail and information in the Venn diagram.
I have been learning to add detail to my writing. We had to imagine we were a soldier or a family member and write about this picture. I used punctuation to make my writing more interesting. My next step is to use language features like similes onomatopoeia and alliteration.
We have been learning about celebrations.
There are different types of celebrations.
We had to talk about these celebrations and decide what type of celebration they were. I found this easy because i knew every single one of these celebrations very well.
I have been learning to use my knowledge of prefixes and suffixes to read and understand a meaning of words. A prefix is 5 letters or under to put on the beginning of a normal word that changes the meaning.
A suffix is like a prefix but just at the end of the word and it changes the meaning.
I found this easy because all I had to do is i had to find the beginning which is the prefix and the end is the suffix the middle is the root word. My next learning step is to identify the suffix.
This is my Pepeha art. A Pepeha is a way of introducing your self in Maori. I have included my maunga (mountain), my awa (river), my culture and a place that is special to me. My favourite part was to colour my Pepeha in. I loved this artwork.
I have been learning to write a Antonym Diamante Poem.
An antonym is a word that is the opposite of a word.
A diamante poem is a poem that is in a diamond shape.
I found this hard because I couldn't think of any verbs for the poem. My next step is to choose interesting words not boring words.
I have been learning to find and summarise information in non-non-fiction texts. I got a lot better at searching
up the information.I was surprised that all of the websites were different. My next step is to make sure I summarise the information in my own words.
I have been learning to collect data using a tally chart and show the results on a bar graph.I found this fun because I got to go all over the class and it was fun asking the questions.I wasn't surprised with the results because I knew Mcdonald's would win. My next step is to show the data on a different type of graph.
I have been learning to use metaphors to make it more interesting by making pictures in the readers head.
I got a lot better at using metaphors.
